Open-source AI brand visibility and competitor reports
The Lens

NiubiGEO checks whether AI models know your product exists. It runs the questions your customers would actually ask through OpenRouter, OpenAI, Claude, Gemini, Perplexity, and DeepSeek, records whether you get mentioned, notes which competitors show up instead, and traces the citations behind each answer. Search rankings used to be the whole game. Now a lot of buying research never touches a results page.
Setup is Docker compose or Node 22 and up, a clone, and an env file with at least one provider key. It queries with web search and grounding turned on where the provider supports it, so you pay that provider's per-call rate. A broad prompt set across six providers adds up faster than people expect. Apache 2.0, self-hosted, no license fee.
Marketing people and founders at small companies are the fit. Larger teams already pay for a commercial visibility tracker, and this gets most of the same signal for the price of the API calls.
The catch is that model answers are non-deterministic and shift with every model update. One run is a snapshot, not a measurement. Trustworthy output means the same prompt set on a schedule over weeks. The tool gives you the harness for that, not the discipline.
Free vs Self-Hosted vs Paid
fully freeFree tier: The Community Edition is Apache 2.0 and self-hosted with no feature gate. Every provider integration, the citation tracing, and the competitor comparison are in the free build.
Self-hosted: Docker compose or Node 22 and up, a clone, and a .env file. The software costs nothing. The model calls do. You need at least one key among OpenRouter, OpenAI, Anthropic, Gemini, Perplexity, or DeepSeek, and the runs use web search and grounding where available, which prices higher than a plain completion. Cost scales with prompts multiplied by providers multiplied by how often you rerun, so start with a narrow prompt set and widen it once you see a bill.
Paid: A NiubiGEO Managed Service exists for human-run testing and screenshots. It is not detailed in the repository and pricing is not published, so treat it as a contact-sales option rather than a tier you can compare.
The tool is free. The model calls are not, and a wide prompt set across six providers is the line item to watch.
What to do by team size
- Solo
- free; keep the prompt set small and the schedule weekly
- Small team
- free; one provider key and a fixed prompt set stays cheap
- Medium team
- free; set a spend cap per provider before you widen coverage
- Large team
- Compare against a commercial tracker once API spend passes its license fee
