Banana Slides builds a slide deck from a one-line idea, an outline or a stack of reference docs. A text model writes the outline and page notes, then an image model paints every slide, by default Google's Nano Banana Pro. You edit by asking: 'make this chart a pie chart' on one region or the whole page. Export to PowerPoint, PDF or a narrated video. AGPLv3.

Self-host it with Docker Compose or use the desktop app, and bring your own API keys: Gemini, OpenAI, Anthropic and several Chinese providers all work. The model bill is the real cost. Nano Banana Pro runs about $0.13 per slide image at 2K, so a 15-slide deck is roughly $2 per full pass before revisions. bananaslides.online is a free demo that still wants your own key.

Solo founders who need a decent-looking deck fast and don't mind paying per generation: worth a try. Anyone who needs to hand-edit afterward should wait. Every slide is an image, and the editable PowerPoint export is beta and needs two extra OCR and parsing services.

The catch: it's essentially one maintainer, there's been no stable release since February, and the contributor agreement lets that maintainer relicense contributions as closed source.
