Free: The code is GPL-3.0-or-later. With your own key (OpenAI, Anthropic, Gemini, Azure AI Foundry, DeepSeek, Groq, Cerebras, or any OpenAI-compatible endpoint such as Ollama) cue itself costs nothing and you pay the provider directly. Listening can run locally with whisper.cpp at no cost, or through Deepgram, OpenAI, Gemini or Groq on your own keys. A local-only setup (Ollama plus local whisper) costs nothing at all.

Self-hosted: A desktop app, nothing to host. Builds from source have no publik token, so the publik option never appears. Keys and any résumé you paste live in plain text in cue-data.json; every transcript turn, including what other people said, is saved to meetings.json (the newest 50 meetings are kept), and summaries of your last three meetings are sent with later prompts.

Paid: The packaged Releases builds default to publik API, a metered gateway: each request costs 50% of the model's published list price, a new computer starts at $0.00, and linking it to a publik account gives $0.05 of free use once. publik plans are Basic at $8/month and Pro at $20/month (each is that much AI usage, unused balance doesn't roll over), or one-time packs of $20, $50 or $100 ($20.91, $51.80 or $103.30 with card processing). cue's default tiers are publik-fast (served by GLM 5.3 Flash) and publik-balanced (served by Xiaomi MiMo v2.6 Pro). cue only uses publik for chat, so listening still needs local whisper or an audio-capable key. publik's developer page says app makers get half of publik's markup on their app's calls.
