The Lens

Replica is eleven Claude skills that walk an agent through rebuilding someone else's app: map its screens and flows, plan the stack, build, test, score against the original, rename and ship. The standout is the Entrepreneur skill, which ranks what users complain about in real reviews so your version fixes it. MIT, no signup, no API key.

Install is copying eleven folders into ~/.claude/skills/. The six helper scripts are standard-library Python with no network imports: a screenshot layout diff, a parity score, a review ranker that drops unlinked quotes, and a sweep that blocks deploy while the original's name or colors remain. The real cost is agent time; the author says a booking tool is weeks. Solo builders and small teams: a decent competitor-build checklist. Larger teams already have a product process.

The catch: "clone any app" is the headline, and the fine print walks it back to features and flows, clean-room style: no scraping behind logins, trademark checks, a lawyer before launch. Good guardrails, but they're prompt instructions, not enforcement, and the legal risk is yours. It's also one commit with five unmerged PRs, one reporting the plugin install loads none of the skills. Copy the folders.

Free vs Self-Hosted vs Paid

fully free

Free: All eleven skills and six helper scripts are MIT. No signup, no API key, nothing to connect.

Self-hosted: Copy the replica-* folders into ~/.claude/skills/ or a project's .claude/skills/. The scripts need Python 3.8+ and nothing from pip. A plugin-marketplace install is documented, but an open PR reports Claude Code rejects the plugin's skills path, so copying folders is the reliable route. Any single SKILL.md can be pasted into a chat without Claude Code, minus the scripts.

Paid: No paid tier in the repo. The cost is your agent's usage across a build the author sizes at weeks for a booking app, plus whatever stack you deploy (the worked example picks Next.js, Postgres, Stripe and Resend). The author's site sells custom agent builds starting at $10,000 to $15,000, which is consulting, not an upsell for this skill.

Free and MIT; the bill is agent time on a multi-week build, not the skills.

What to do by team size

Solo
free; copy the folders and run recon first to size the job
Small team
free; useful as a competitor-build checklist
Medium team
free, but most teams already have a product process this duplicates
Large team
skip; legal and product review matter more than a skill pack
Self-hosting ops:trivial
