Notifuse is a newsletter and transactional email platform that deliberately does not send email. It connects to Amazon SES, Mailgun, Postmark, Mailjet, SparkPost, SendGrid, or plain SMTP, and owns everything above that layer: a visual MJML template builder, contact lists with custom fields, segmentation, A/B tests, automation flows with delays and branching, a transactional API, and open and click analytics.

Go and Postgres, deployed with Docker Compose. Because delivery is delegated, you skip the entire mail server problem that makes self-hosted email miserable, and you inherit whatever sending reputation your provider has already built.

Self-hosting is free under AGPL with every feature included, which the project states plainly rather than burying. Cloud starts at $19 a month, or $16 billed annually, for 2,500 active contacts, and climbs through $49, $129, and $319 a month at fifty thousand contacts. Self-host against Amazon SES at roughly ten cents per thousand emails and that same fifty thousand contact list costs a few dollars a month rather than a few hundred.

The catch is that you now operate two things: this, and an account with a sending provider that can still suspend you over a bad list. Notifuse hands you the marketing layer, not permission to email people who never asked for it.

Free vs Self-Hosted vs Paid

free self hosted paid cloud

Free: Self-hosting under AGPL-3.0 with all features included. Visual MJML drag and drop builder, campaign scheduling and targeting, A/B testing, contact management with custom fields and segmentation, automation flows, transactional API, open and click analytics, cookieless web analytics, and S3 file management.

Self-hosted: Go application with PostgreSQL, deployed via Docker Compose (standard and AlloyDB variants published). It does not deliver mail itself, so you also connect Amazon SES, Mailgun, Postmark, Mailjet, SparkPost, SendGrid, or your own SMTP server. At SES rates of about $0.10 per thousand emails, sending cost stays trivial at most list sizes.

Paid: Notifuse Cloud is fully managed. Lite is $19 per month, or $16 per month billed annually, for 2,500 active contacts with unlimited emails. Starter is $49 (or $39 annually) for 10,000 contacts. Pro is $129 (or $99 annually) for 25,000. Business is $319 (or $249 annually) for 50,000. Enterprise is custom above that.

Self-host free with every feature, or $19 a month for managed hosting. Pairing the free build with Amazon SES turns a $319 a month tier into a few dollars.
