WeChat Intelligence Hub reads your own WeChat history and turns it into daily briefs. It indexes the local chat database and produces summaries, open follow-ups, commitments you made and forgot, and searchable per-contact history. Read-only by design: it never sends a message. A demo mode with fictional data lets you see the output before pointing it at anything real.
Getting it running is the hard part. WeChat stores chats in an encrypted SQLite database, so the tool needs SQLCipher and your own decryption key, and the repository deliberately does not ship a key extraction tool. Install is a shell script with a SQLCipher flag, then a profile step where you name your priorities and key contacts. macOS-first, Chinese-first docs, and it exposes itself as skills an AI assistant can call in plain language rather than flags.
Everything stays on your machine. AGPL-3.0 for open use, with a separate commercial license sold for closed-source or enterprise deployment.
The catch is that key. Pulling your own WeChat decryption key sits in a gray area that varies by jurisdiction and by WeChat's own terms, and the project handing that step back to you does not make the question go away. Worth checking before you run this against a work account.
Free vs Self-Hosted vs Paid
open coreFree tier: The full open-source build under AGPL-3.0. Indexing, daily briefs, follow-up tracking, contact history, search, and the AI assistant skills are all in the free version. Demo mode with fictional data is included.
Self-hosted: The only way it runs, and it is the heaviest setup in this batch. You need SQLCipher installed, your own WeChat database decryption key, and macOS. The install script handles dependencies, the profile step needs your input, and the key extraction step is on you because the repo will not bundle a tool for it. Nothing leaves the machine.
Paid: A separate commercial license is sold for closed-source integration or for enterprises that cannot accept AGPL obligations. Pricing is by contact, not published. The author also runs a paid community offering install support and case studies, which is a services product rather than a software tier.
Free unless AGPL is a problem for you, in which case the commercial license is a conversation, not a price page.
