Dusky turns a fresh Arch Linux install into a fully themed Hyprland desktop in one shot. It bundles around eighty setup scripts that handle theming, audio, GPU and local AI inference with Ollama, speech-to-text, disk encryption, and more, so you skip the days of hand-assembling dotfiles. MIT, free, and built for people who want a good-looking, working Arch box without doing all the wiring themselves.

This is opinionated and invasive by design. It reshapes your whole system, expects Btrfs, and autodetects hardware to configure things for you. That is the point, but it also means it is hard to cleanly undo, and it only makes sense on Arch with Hyprland. Run it on a fresh install, not a system you have already customized and care about.

This is for Arch users who want a batteries-included Hyprland setup and would rather start from a strong default than build from zero. Solo desktop users, which is the whole audience here: free. If you do not run Arch, or you enjoy configuring your environment piece by piece, this is not for you, and forcing it onto a non-fresh system is asking for pain.

The catch is commitment. Dusky is a whole-system transformation, not a theme you toggle. On a clean Arch install it saves you real time and looks great. On anything else, the hard requirements and deep changes are more trouble than they are worth.
