anarlog

anarlog takes meeting notes without sending a bot into the call. It records audio on your own computer, transcribes it, and writes the summary, with everything stored in a local SQLite database. It is the open source answer to Granola, and it used to be called Hyprnote. The community app is MIT licensed and free.

Fully local is a Mac story. Built-in on-device transcription needs Apple Silicon. On Windows, Linux, or an Intel Mac you bring your own speech-to-text key, run a Deepgram-compatible server, or pay for the cloud. macOS needs version 15 or later, and the Windows and Linux builds are in beta. For local summaries it connects to Ollama or LM Studio.

Solo on an Apple Silicon Mac: free, with unlimited on-device transcription. Pro is $15/mo or $150/yr for cloud transcription, a cloud LLM, and sync across 3 devices. Team is $20 per person per month. Enterprise adds SSO and SCIM at custom pricing. OpenWhispr/openwhispr is the alternative for dictation, and thewh1teagle/vibe handles transcribing recordings after the fact.

The catch: even with local models, chat with web search sends the query to anarlog's hosted research endpoint. The enterprise directory in the repo is commercial, not MIT. And the team says it is now building a different product called char, though it also says anarlog is not being retired.
