Codenotch parks your AI coding quotas in the MacBook notch. Claude Code, Cursor, Codex, Antigravity, GLM, Grok, and OpenCode each have their own usage window and their own place to check it, so you find out you are throttled at the worst possible moment. This puts all of them in one strip at the top of the screen, along with whether a session is running, waiting, or done.
The detail that makes it usable is that there is no sign-in. It reads the credentials those tools already stored on your Mac when you logged into them, so it is install and go. Build from source with xcodegen and make run, or take a release. MIT, free, no account.
macOS only. Solo developers and small teams juggling two or three assistants get the most out of it. Nothing to host, nothing running on a server.
The catch is that it leans on undocumented local credential storage and private usage endpoints across seven separate products. Any one of those vendors can change a file path or a response shape in a routine update and that provider goes dark until somebody patches it. Handy utility, fragile foundation.
Free vs Self-Hosted vs Paid
fully freeFree tier: The whole app. MIT licensed, no account, no subscription, no pro version. Every supported provider is in the free build.
Self-hosted: Not applicable. It is a native macOS app that runs on your machine and reads local credential files. Building from source needs xcodegen via Homebrew, then make run. There is no server component and no telemetry endpoint to point anywhere.
Paid: Nothing here. The costs it displays belong to the assistants themselves, and those plans are where your money already goes. Codenotch does not resell, proxy, or mark up any of them.
Free, and it only shows you the bills you are already paying somewhere else.
