3D Model Anything turns a room into an editable 3D scene you can walk through in a browser. An iPhone app captures it with LiDAR (the depth sensor on Pro iPhones and iPads) and photos. Your AI coding agent then rebuilds it as Three.js code (the JavaScript library behind most web 3D) using the included skill. Wes Bos built it; the code is MIT and free.

Setup is easy now: the iPhone app went live free on the App Store on October 24. Scanning needs a LiDAR iPhone or iPad (the Pro models) on iOS 17+, and scans stay on the phone until you AirDrop them out. The rebuild happens on your computer, where the skill runs in your coding agent and the Three.js viewer runs on Node.

Nothing is paywalled, but the modeling runs in your own agent, so that subscription is the real bill, plus a Pro iPhone if you don't own one. Solo tinkerers with a LiDAR device: free. Small teams and larger shops: treat it as a demo workflow, not a production pipeline.

The catch: this is not one-click scan to model. You babysit an agent through measure, model and compare loops, room by room. For a finished scan file today, Polycam gets you there faster.

Free vs Self-Hosted vs Paid

fully free

Free: All source code and the scan-to-threejs agent skill are MIT. The iPhone app is free on the App Store (version 1.0, released October 24, 2026), needs no account, makes no network requests, and keeps scans on the device until you share them. The Three.js viewer and the Wes office demo run locally or on the project's GitHub Pages site.

Self-hosted: Nothing to host. Scanning needs a LiDAR iPhone or iPad on iOS 17+; you can also build the app from source in Xcode. The viewer needs Node.js 22.12+, and the skill's helpers need Python 3 and Pillow, with NumPy and Open3D for optional depth reconstruction.

Paid: No paid tier. Real costs sit outside the project: a LiDAR-equipped Pro iPhone or iPad, and the AI coding agent subscription that does the reconstruction work.

The project and its App Store app are free. The real costs are a LiDAR Pro iPhone or iPad and the AI agent plan that turns scans into a model.

What to do by team size

Solo
free if you already own a LiDAR iPhone or iPad; install from the App Store
Small team
free, but expect an experiment, not a dependable scanning pipeline
Medium team
free to evaluate; a commercial scanner app is more practical for regular work
Large team
free to fork, but no support or SLA; use a commercial scanning platform
Self-hosting ops:moderate
