The Lens

Easy!Appointments gives a business a booking page customers actually use: services, staff schedules, working hours, Google Calendar sync, and email notifications. It's the self-hosted answer to appointment scheduling, GPL v3, free with no per-seat fees and no commission on bookings.

It runs on the most boring stack on the internet: PHP and MySQL on any cheap shared host or small VPS. That's a feature. No containers required, upgrades are a file swap plus a migration script, and any web agency on earth can maintain it for you.

Solo service businesses and small shops: this replaces a Calendly bill if you're willing to host a PHP app. Developers booking meetings rather than customer appointments should use calcom/cal.com instead; it's built for meeting links and integrations, not service businesses. The maintainer sells installation, managed hosting, and customization if you'd rather pay someone.

The catch: it's appointment booking, not a scheduling platform. No routing forms, no round-robin across a sales team, and the interface is functional rather than polished. It does one job from 2015 exceptionally cheaply.

Free vs Self-Hosted vs Paid

free self hosted paid cloud

Free Tier (Self-Hosted)

The full application, GPL v3: unlimited providers, services, and bookings, customer management, Google Calendar sync, CalDAV, email notifications, working-hour rules, and a customizable booking page. No commissions, no seat pricing.

Self-Hosted Setup

PHP + MySQL, which means a $5/mo shared host or the smallest VPS you can rent. Installation is the classic upload-and-run-the-installer flow. Upgrades are manual but simple. This is deliberately low-tech, and that makes it one of the cheapest tools to keep alive.

Paid Services

No SaaS tier with a price list. The maintainer offers quoted professional services: installation, upgrades, data migration, white-labeling, custom development, and managed hosting. You request a quote.

The Math

Calendly Teams is $16-20/user/mo, so a 5-person shop pays roughly $1,000/year. Easy!Appointments on shared hosting is about $60/year plus occasional upgrade time. For a service business taking client bookings, the savings are real; for a sales team needing routing and round-robin, Calendly's features aren't replicated here.

Verdict

Free where Calendly charges per seat. Pay the maintainer only if you want the setup handled.

Free self-hosted booking with no per-seat fees. Paid options are quoted services from the maintainer, not a SaaS tier.
