Open-source Social Media Scheduling
The Lens
By Erik Loyd, SaaS CEO and former COO/CFO of an AWS Premier Partner.
Updated Sep 2026
Twelve networks, one price, no per seat tax. trypost is a calendar first social scheduler that publishes natively to Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, X, TikTok, YouTube, Pinterest, Threads, Bluesky, Mastodon, Telegram, and Discord. Drag a post to a new slot and it moves. Self-host it under AGPL for nothing, or pay for their cloud.
The backend is PHP and Laravel with a Vue frontend, and Docker compose files ship in the repo. The self-hosted path looks like every other Laravel app: web server, database, queue worker. Nothing exotic and nothing surprising.
Cloud is $10 a month per workspace, or $120 a year, with unlimited teammates and no feature gating. AI, analytics, approvals, the API, and MCP ship on every plan. That pricing is aggressive against Buffer, which bills per channel, and against Hootsuite, which bills per seat. Five teammates across six channels costs the same $10 as one person on one channel.
The catch is that a flat workspace price only stays cheap while the company can survive on it, and pricing this far under the market usually moves. AGPL self-hosting is your insurance policy. Clone the repo now, not the week they announce new tiers.
Free vs Self-Hosted vs Paid
free self hosted paid cloudFree: Self-hosting is free under AGPL-3.0 with the full feature set. Twelve platform integrations, calendar planning, AI content generation, automation workflows, analytics, approvals, and the API.
Self-hosted: PHP and Laravel backend, Vue frontend, Docker compose files included. Standard Laravel operational needs: web server, database, and a queue worker for scheduled publishing.
Paid: Cloud is $10 per month per workspace billed monthly, or $120 per year billed annually. Unlimited team members with no per seat charge and no feature gating between plans. There is one plan, not a ladder.
Self-host free under AGPL, or $10 a month per workspace for unlimited teammates. Flat workspace pricing undercuts Buffer's per channel and Hootsuite's per seat billing badly.
What to do by team size
- Solo
- free self-hosted, or $10 a month to skip the server
- Small team
- $10 a month cloud; unlimited seats makes this the cheapest option in the category
- Medium team
- $10 a month cloud, still flat regardless of headcount
- Large team
- self-host under AGPL so a pricing change cannot strand you
